December is moving right along...

photo by Fran Durner from the Anchorage Daily News' December snow gallery.
I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for moving. A friend stopped by on the way to Anch today and took my desktop and a duffel bag of clothes to where I'll be staying. That was a big help.
I'd say I'm ready to go tomorrow!

Happy Winter Solstice!

Thanks for all the well wishes and support. Found a room to rent for a week in Houston at a lodge with a restaurant and bar.

Ready to leave Valdez just in time for the next snowstorm.

Happy Holidays to all!

Things Change

Well, I got fired from my new job in Houston today. So it doesn't look like I will be moving there. I was just getting ready to leave when I received an email informing me of my status. I needed to take care of some business here Monday before I left and missed work today. She said I hope it was important business because it cost you your job.

Now I still have stuff in Houston I have to move. And my stuff packed up here in Valdez. I think I will still have my friends bring my big stuff to Wasilla. Store it some place til I figure out where I'm going. I can stay with a friend in Anchorage and rent a storage unit there. It will be easier to get my stuff from Wasilla than Valdez.

I'm dissappointed about getting fired. After the shock wore off I am okay being jobless and almost homeless.

pretty cool

and down to the valleys I go.
To live like a pig in the clover.
In sight of huge mountains of snow.

Early Sunset

Took these pictures around 3pm today. Nice clear day in Houston hovering around 20 degrees.

Meanwhile, Valdez goes big with 24 " of new snow and goes over a 100" for the season with 116" as of late Wed night. Talked to a friend in Valdez tonight and she said it was still snowing.

Hope they get it all neatly piled up by Saturday...

Blogging from Houston

Its been hectic the last few days as they wanted me to start my new job right away. The weather for traveling back turned really crappy anyway. Valdez only got a foot and a half of snow last night.

I have weekends off so I'm driving back to Valdez Saturday for another load coming bach Sunday. Weather permiting. Good news is some friends are coming up to Wasilla for Christmas with an empty truck as they want to bring a load of good, dry spruce back. So they'll have room for my desk!

Houston was 23 degrees and lightly snowing. Quite pleasant.

Welcome to the Wake Zone

Swimming, the only sport with no half times, no subs, no timeouts and you only get 1 shot at your goal.
The calender on the right with puppy dog faces represents days we jumped in the pool the month of November.
The hardest part about swimming is the 5 minutes before.
Then its Welcome to the Wake Zone.
