Fish Taxi Tunes

This girl can sing (reminds me of a young Joan Baez) with a great band behind her.

"Factory" brings me to my knees.

Both new to me great singer/songwriters found by listening to Radio Paradise.

The Night they took ol' Ted Down

There are enough politcal blogs out there that I don't need to be writing one. I like to keep this blog light and snowy.

But, I am an almost 30 year Alaskan, and feel I need to speak my piece. The election is over so I am not trying to sway any reader to the left or right.

Everyone knows it doesn't matter whose in or out. Clear Channel owns 80% of the radio stations, McClatchy owns the newspapers, the Japanese own the movies and we own the internet?

Ted Stevens said the internet was a series of tubes. He was right. When you think about it. Legal pot smokers have a way of seeing the big picture more clearly and express simple things profoundly. If you are not stoned or have never been stoned, legally, you wouldn't understand.

Ted Stevens said that HAARP (General Information) was a study of the auroras. He was right. If you think about it. Ask Nikola Tesla.

Happy 85th Bithday to a great senator. Hey, Senator to-be Mark Begich, if laser eye surgery was around when Uncle Ted was senator, he wouldn't have needed glasses all those years. Hope you see the fine print young man.

Jill has a Book Out!

Buy The Book!

This girl can ride, write and take awesome pics. She puts studs on her bike and in all kinds of weather goes places. I've been following her blog since she lived in Homer. A young photo-journalist from Utah working her way up through the ranks.

Visit Jill Homer's Blog!

Thanks to Alaskan Girl for the heads up.

Go Jill!

Every Day Is Veterans Day

Every day that a veteran dies our wings get clipped more. Its like we are all on restriction. Police the yard. Get your hands out of your pockets. Forget even one iota of original thought you had. It was tested illegal.

Proud to be among Veterans

Changed My Mind

Had a bad day yesterday. All the pictures/videos I put on my laptop (which has the new Windows Vista operating system) won't cooperate with me. For instance, the video below. The only way I could upload it was connect to the internet directly from my laptop after numerous attempts to simply burn a CD and upload it to my desktop failed. Is it me or is Vista not compatible with XP was my dillema yesterday. Then my laptop got a corrupt file from the picture program itself so now I'm running a scan disk and I hope that fixes it.

I slept on it and changed my mind about pulling the plug on this blog. I'll figure it out and continue taking pictures. Does anyone else have a problem with Vista?

Do you have room

for an orphaned bear in your zoo?

This little black bear won't make it through the winter without human intervention.

Contact the Valdez City Animal Control at 907-835-4560 if you can help find a safe, warm home for this cute cub.

Wylie Rogers Named CHL Goalie for October!

Wylie is playing goalie for the KillerBees in Texas. The second biggest state in the union after being born and raised in the biggest state. He made a name for himself in Alaska playing 4 years at UAF and receiving his college education in his home state. This dedicated athlete is going places. Course I am biased. He's my nephew who got me interested in hockey and becoming a lifetime member of the UAF Face-Off Club. Still listen to the Nanook games on the internet. As far as I could find out the KillerBees games are not broadcasted outside of the Rio Grande area. This is from the story:

Bring your radio to the game and tune in to 93.5 FM for an in-arena feed of the play-by-play broadcast on Real Country 102.1 FM.

Loving the press releases though.

My last picture of food from Cold Ass Windy Bay!

Soon there will be pics of all the glacier silt swirling around Valdez that I thought was fog. Once my head clears up.
