Next Stop: Tsaina Lodge!

This is the employee housing I will be living in.  Yurts!  The picture came off their Facebook page taken during the first snow storm of this winter.  I'm sure the yurts are well insulated with heaps of snow by now.

There is wireless internet up there so I will be blogging.

I will be taking the drive slow and watching out for moose BIG TIME!!!

Website will be updated soon for Tsaina Lodge!

My new kitchen!

The chef at the NEW Tsaina Lodge, in the Chugach Mountains, called me this morning and offered me the position of his kitchen helper!  The lodge will be open March & April for the fabulous spring skiing season on & around Thompson Pass.  I am now part of a team working a first class ski resort nestled 35 miles from my old stomping grounds, the snow capitol of the world, Valdez.  If I were a skier or snowboarder I would be even more excited than I am already.  I start next week!

This was the job I wanted.  Fun lodge, earning while learning, with a mountain backdrop.  I won't be able to take a bad picture.

The skiing season will be over in time for me to go to my summer job at the best fishing lodge on the Kenai!!!

Winter Baking

I've been in the baking mood lately.  Apple pie, double chocolate chip cookies, bread & cinnamon rolls so far.  Don't worry.  I have help to make it all gone.

Iron Dog Ice Holes

Drove out to Big Lake, the start of the Iron Dog Snowmachine Race, that starts this Sunday to see what all the fuss was about.

Apparently, after the volunteers cleared the snow off the lake for a parking lot & the spectators, an ice fisherman looked and saw a good place to dig not one, but three ice holes.  The holes released the water pressure and flooded the cleared area with a foot and a half of water.  No problem for the racers but no fun for the spectators or their vehicles.

The Iron Dog Race doesn't own Big Lake and can do nothing about the fisherman drilling the holes in their playground.  They do know that there are no fish on that side of the lake so all that work for no fish.

Looks like they plugged the holes and are working on clearing another area for Sunday's Big Lake start of the Iron Dog snowmachine race from Big Lake to Nome to Fairbanks.

Bus Stop Palsilla

Palmer & Wasilla are spread out enough now that the two cities in the Mat-Su valley are connected. The area where I live is in between Palmer & Wasilla. A friend calls it "Palsilla".

I like the convenient location & this painted bus stop in the neighborhood.

Bumper to Bumper

Bumper to Bumper  Wasilla, Alaska (907) 373-7166

Bumper to Bumper is the place to go for all your vehicle needs. From one end to the other & in between!  Located in the valley on Seward-Meridian between Sears & the Palmer/Wasilla Hwy.

Les, and his son Josh, run a tight ship and I am very happy with their work, rates & friendly fast service.

The FishTaxi is back on the road running legally!
