The Kenai Runs Silent

Devastating low King Salmon returns caused the State of Alaska Fish & Game to close the Kenai River to King Salmon sport fishing last Friday.  It was eerily silent at the popular river in the pouring rain today.

well doesn't that just suck! didn't this happen this early a couple years ago too? Wonder if the Copper River is still open for kings.

It seems like salmon, especially chinooks, always run in cycles... up one year and down the next. A low year may mean poor fishing this year but doesn't necessarily mean less fish out there.
