Got everything moved out of my room in Anchorage. Stopped by my storage unit and picked up my desktop. Low and behold there is a desk in my new room with a slide out keyboard tray. Cleaned my bathroom and made my bed. Thats Jefferson jumping on it. He's the small dog. Thatcher is bigger with the same coloring. Yes, she's named after Margaret and Jefferson after Thomas. Jefferson took to me right away. Thatcher is acting like her namesake. Its going to take a bit for her to warm up to me. Starting to feel at home and getting settled in. Overcast day with snow flurries and the wind is blowing off the lake. Nice and toasty inside though. I think I'm really gonna like my new digs.

Drove out to the Matanuska Valley today for a job interview. With the nice 31 degree weather I saw lots of horseback riders. These two girls were more than happy to have their picture taken. They told me the breed and not being
a horsewoman all I can remember is part appaloosa and part ? Both were different part. The horses were perfect sizes for these young riders. Not too much bigger than them.
The Valley of the Horses is my favorite book from Jean Auel's THE EARTH'S CHILDREN SERIES.

Hamburger buns that is. Made fresh daily at the Long Branch Saloon. I remember the long running commercials that bragged about the best buns in town. And they were not kidding. Light and airy they hold up to the cheeseburger well. Which was, by far, the best cheeseburger I've ate in Anchorage, so far.
After I ordered mine with fries the customer next to me ordered theirs with a salad. Even though the hand cut fries were crisp and hot the salad looked and smelled good with fresh sliced cucumbers and tomatoes. Next time I'm ordering a salad with mine and there will be a next time.
The Long Branch Saloon sits just off of Abbott Road. Next time your on that side of town and hungry stop in. The cheeseburger, glass of Alaskan Amber and a generous tip came to $20.00.

Over halfway through February. Might be the shortest month of the year but in Alaska its the longest.

A story ran today in the Fairbanks News-Miner (Palin rails against 'anonymous, pathetic bloggers') where Governor Palin says she's addicted to Carmex.
She's a real Alaskan and so am I. My name is FishTaxi and I'm addicted to Carmex. I'm old school and prefer the pot. In its original pure state.
