Ruby-throated Hummingbird

I spotted my first Ruby-throated Hummingbird at our feeder tonight. Before the flowers start blooming our feeder gets hit hard. I make the feeder by the quart and change it out with fresh every couple of days. Its worth it to see all the hummingbirds out my window.

Here is a beautiful, high quality, video of hummingbirds from the nest to first flight.

No kidding? Oh my - I never would have guessed. Putting "hummingbird feeder" on my list for the next town trip. Weird --- I don't remember seeing hummingbird feeders as popular items (like around the checkout etc.) in stores. Maybe it's just a Valdez phenomenon? Regardless, I'll give it a shot up here in Talkeetna.

Put a hummingbird feeder up and they will come. I'm not sure how far north they go but I heard they not only migrate with the geese they catch a ride on their backs!
